When a hazardous waste treatment facility was about to begin operating, the community (East Liverpool, Ohio) was besieged by distressed residents. A senior ICTM physician/toxicologist reviewed all of the pre burn data, the various EPA reports and the risk assessments.

Community town hall meetings were held, at the request of the Town, to discuss the risks, the safety features, the planned ongoing monitoring. Based upon the concerns of residents, ICTM developed a follow-up monitoring plan and epidemiological study in conjunction with the State Department of the Environment and their epidemiologist.
